Haunted Happenings in Tazewell County

Leaves are falling, autumn is calling, and it’s spooky season in Tazewell County! As you plan for fall events, we’ve rounded up two scary events to visit this October: Shudder Lake in Tazewell, Virginia, and the Haunted Mine Tour in Pocahontas. The mine and lake are waiting for you. Are you brave enough to visit?

Shudder Lake

Walk (or run) through this haunted attraction — if you dare! For the last two years during the month of October, Lincolnshire Park has been transformed into Shudder Lake, an outdoor haunted trail that terrifies visitors of all ages.

The folks behind Shudder Lake have been bringing spooky, scary events to Tazewell County for several years now, making this Halloween event an annual hit in Tazewell County!

Haunted Mine Tour

During the month of October, the Pocahontas Exhibition Coal Mine turns into a haunted excursion that’s fun for all ages. Go underground in this real, formerly operational coal mine to see the historic space and hear some spooky stories. Maybe you’ll see a ghost or two!

Tazewell County’s rich history in the coal mining industry makes the Pocahontas Exhibition Coal Mine both an educational and entertaining destination. It’s sure to send a shiver down your spine, either from the cold temperatures in the mine, or from the haunts!
