Patriot Trail

Distance: 1.5 Mile Loop
Rating: Easy

Located at Lincolnshire Park, the Patriot Trail is an easy 1.5 mile loop trail that circles around the lake within the park. The Patriot Trail is the perfect hike for a family looking for an easy walk surrounded by beautiful scenery. 

Frank Barnes Trail

Distance: 2.4 Miles
Rating: Moderate

The newest trail in Tazewell County, the Frank Barnes Trail was unveiled in 2021. This 2.4-mile trail has a moderate elevation change of 140 feet and connects to the Patriot Trail at Lincolnshire Park. When combined, the Frank Barnes Trail and Patriot Trail are just under four miles. 

Appalachian Trail: Burkes Garden

Distance: Approximately 5 Miles
Rating: Moderate

A section of the Appalachian Trail goes right through Tazewell County, so avid hikers can tackle a part of this iconic trail. This section of trail skirts along the southern ridge of Burkes Garden before heading northeast toward Bastian, Va. 

Roaring Branch Trail in Beartown Wilderness

Distance: 1.7 miles (one-way)
Rating: Moderate to Difficult 

Located in the Beartown Wilderness, the Roaring Branch Trail is a challenging trail that winds 1.7 miles (one-way) into the wilderness area. The Beartown Wilderness area is very remote and features steep, rugged terrain and could be challenging for some hikers.
