Christmas Parades Bring Holiday Magic to Tazewell County

Christmas settles into Tazewell County in a way that feels stitched into the mountains themselves. Lights glow a little warmer, familiar streets take on a soft shimmer, and each town leans into its own holiday tradition. For many, the season truly begins when the first float turns the corner and the sound of a marching band echoes between the ridgelines. This year, three parades carry that spirit across the county, each offering its own charm and reason to bundle up and join the celebration.

Tazewell Christmas Parade – Saturday, December 6th at 5:00 PM

Tazewell invites visitors to arrive early and enjoy a full day of festive activities before the parade begins. The Winter Market fills Main Street from 10 AM to 3 PM with local makers, baked goods, handcrafted gifts, and seasonal touches that make shopping feel relaxed and personal. In the afternoon, the Litz Mansion welcomes families for Cookies and Cocoa with Mrs. Claus followed by story time, adding a warm and memorable way to ease into the evening.
By the time the parade steps off at 5 PM, Main Street shines with twinkling lights and hometown pride. Children wave from decorated floats, local groups bring cheerful energy, and the familiar sights of a mountain town at Christmas set the tone for a memorable night. After the parade, visitors can continue the evening with ice skating at Lincolnshire Park or enjoy a warm meal on Main Street.

Bluefield Christmas Parade – Thursday, December 11th at 7:00 PM

Bluefield celebrates under a crisp December night sky as downtown lights glow against the cool air. Families settle in along the sidewalks, greeting neighbors and choosing favorite viewing spots for a tradition that brings the town together year after year. As the parade moves through downtown, brightly lit floats and familiar faces carry the season forward with plenty of charm.
After the final float, Asbury Square becomes the natural place to gather. The town tree and surrounding lights create one of the most festive backdrops of the season, perfect for families capturing the glow of the evening.

Pocahontas Christmas Parade – Saturday, December 13th at 5:00 PM

Pocahontas adds a meaningful chapter to the season with a parade rooted in the town’s Appalachian heritage. As floats travel past historic buildings, lights catch the brick and stone in a way that feels nostalgic and true to place. Families gather along streets shaped by generations of coalfield history, children wave with excitement, and the entire scene reflects the pride and welcome that define this town during the holidays.

Across Tazewell County, these parades are more than seasonal events. They reflect the character, hospitality, and mountain charm that make this corner of Virginia shine each December.
